Companion Booklet for the Special Exhibition *“Radiant Landscapes”*
Snap, view, delete - Karlheinz Rothenberger has no interest in that. He relies exclusively on his Leica and black-and-white 35mm film.
What defines his photography is his photographic eye, his inner attitude toward photography. Karlheinz Rothenberger, chief physician at the Landshut Hospital, takes us to unusual environments. First, to Ronneburg: His images depict the metamorphosis of the lunar landscape in the former Wismut region from contaminated mining terrain to a human-friendly post-mining landscape. Second, to Geisenhausen near Landshut: The series of Lattice Masts was created as part of environmentally friendly corrosion protection measures on high-voltage pylons. The lattice structures were transformed into gigantic art objects. They then stand like monoliths in the landscape, as if they had been installed specifically for the artistic photographs.
