Chemnitz – A Foundry Location

During the Industrial Revolution, casting technology became an indispensable companion in the development of machinery and toolmaking. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Chemnitz was among the leading machinery-manufacturing cities in Germany. Accordingly, foundries in Chemnitz played a significant role. This book aims to honor that role and provide those interested in history with an overview of Chemnitz’s foundry history. At the same time, it is intended to inspire those still undecided about their career choice and to draw attention, from an artistic perspective, to the work of foundries.
