Visitor Milestone at the Chemnitz Museum of Industry – 1,000,000th Guest Welcomed

On Sunday, June 25, 2023, the Chemnitz Museum of Industry welcomed its 1,000,000th visitor: Andreas Faust from Chemnitz. He had come especially for the museum’s 3rd Steampunk Festival.

On that day, the museum grounds were transformed into a thematic world that brought to life the visionary ideas of the industrial age and its ingenious machines.

Was the future better in the past? People have always been fascinated by what the future might bring. Historical testimonies of these visions offer insight into the mindset of earlier generations regarding their present.

Artists from various genres explored these ideas. During the Steampunk Festival at the Chemnitz Museum of Industry, visitors experienced a world blending reality and fiction. In addition to the technical masterpieces of the past on display at the museum, fans of retro-futurism presented creative interpretations of what the future once looked like. How might Jules Verne and his contemporaries have imagined our present?

As the 1,000,000th visitor, Andreas Faust received a six-month lottery pass from SACHSENLOTTO, an annual pass to the Chemnitz Museum of Industry, a special exhibition catalog, and a unique bag from the civic initiative Die Buntmacherinnen* in Chemnitz. The gifts were presented by Jürgen Kabus, acting director of the museum.

For 20 years, the Chemnitz Museum of Industry has welcomed visitors at its Zwickauer Straße 119 location. During this time, the museum has presented nearly 100 special exhibitions.
