The Chemnitz Museum of Industry will present the winners of the 2023 Saxon State Prize for Design from August 6 to September 1 in the museum’s permanent exhibition. In the entrance area, visitors can also obtain free information about the competition and the nominees.
Since 1992, the Saxon State Prize for Design has served as a connecting and supportive element of the local design industry. For the 2023 competition year, the prize invited participation in two competitions for the first time: the Saxony-wide Design Mission Award and the nationwide Design Vision Award.
On November 13, 2023, Minister of Economic Affairs Martin Dulig honored the winners. The State Ministry awarded the prizes to highlight the transformative importance of design for the economy and society even more strongly.
The new concept of the prize led to a record number of participants. From 263 submissions, the jury selected 36 nominees. Fifteen design achievements were awarded. The range of projects spans from theoretical design reflections on the global significance of bread baking to the first lead- and nickel-free trumpet.
