Although, oftentimes it is less about major innovations and more frequently about already existing things that are simply optimised.
Early industrialization favored the emergence of highly specialized medium-sized companies. They can only succeed by continuously improving their products and implementing new ideas. While most inventions initially came from brilliant tinkerers and craftsmen, later on, engineers and scientists became the primary drivers of innovation. This development was supported by an advanced educational system. At universities, research institutions, and within industry, ideas for the products of tomorrow are already taking shape today.
Many inventors fall into financial hardship or are forgotten. Yet even failed ideas can provide impulses to continue searching for new solutions.
