Machine Minis
Your Invention, Your Workshop!
This exhibition invites children of all ages—and all those who have remained curious—to embark on a playful journey into the world of technology.
This exhibition invites children of all ages—and all those who have remained curious—to embark on a playful journey into the world of technology. Here, visitors are encouraged to build, experiment, design, and explore. Whether working with cardboard, pens, needle and thread, or simple mechanical components, participants create their own model machines that spin, move, and surprise.
In doing so, visitors effortlessly step into new roles—as engineers, researchers, designers, or inventors.
At its core, the exhibition highlights the fascinating interplay between historical heritage and contemporary approaches to technology. Machine Minis demonstrates in an engaging and accessible way how machines function, how materials can be used, and how past, present, and future are interconnected. Children experience first-hand the joy and potential inherent in technical thinking, hands-on making, and creative problem-solving.
The exhibition is accompanied by a varied holiday and family programme: open workshops, creative activities, and collaborative learning opportunities create an inspiring environment for experimentation, discovery, and understanding. With the support of regional partners and selected objects from the Roland Reißig Collection, a space is created that not only inspires enthusiasm for technology but also encourages children and families to design and invent for themselves in a lasting way.
