Insights into a student photography workshop

From November 2010 to February 2011, the Chemnitz Museum of Industry presented the special exhibition Art, Culture & Elegance: Willy Maywald – A German Photographer of Haute Couture in France, organized in cooperation with the Association Willy Maywald and the Institut français d'Allemagne–Leipzig.
As part of this exhibition and an extensive educational program, a multi-day photography workshop was held in February 2011 under the guidance of Chemnitz photographer Dirk Hanus.
Under his direction, students from Chemnitz schools engaged intensively with the subject of black-and-white photography. Incorporating the themes of image composition, costume, and makeup, they collaboratively created photographs that, like their inspirations in the Maywald exhibition, reflect timeless elegance.
The exhibition Inspiration Willy Maywald is accompanied by thanks to all those involved whose dedication made it possible for the Chemnitz Museum of Industry to carry out such an educational project.
