This exhibition honours the life and work of Carl H. Hahn (1926–2023), one of the most influential figures in twentieth-century German industrial and mobility history. As a long-standing executive of the Volkswagen Group, Hahn played a pivotal role in shaping the post-war reconstruction and international orientation of the automotive industry.

Through his particular commitment to Chemnitz and the wider region of Saxony, he made a significant contribution to reinterpreting industrial traditions and supporting the transformation of the former Auto Union region into a modern centre for mobility. In recognition of his services to the city, Carl H. Hahn was awarded honorary citizenship of Chemnitz.

The exhibition brings together biographical insights with broader reflections on industrial responsibility, regional identity, and the evolving nature of mobility. Drawings by the Urban Sketchers add a contemporary artistic perspective, capturing places, people, and industrial heritage.

An outreach project of the Industriemuseum Chemnitz.
