From Overalls to Pajamas – a Festival on the Transformation of the World of Work

June 6, 4–10 p.m. + June 7, 1–10 p.m.

From the Classic Factory to the Work of the Future – New Work in Industry? At first, it may sound like a start-up or coworking space, but this transformation is also entering production halls. It’s about more freedom, self-responsibility, and participation—and it affects us all.

In interactive workshops, you can produce yourself, explore work models, and participate in shaping them. In two scenically designed rooms, everything revolves around handbag production, guided by our textile expert team: Virginia, Wenke, and Ina. The focus of these rooms is on the textile processing workflow.

For children, there are creative textile workshops, along with music, engaging panel discussions, and plenty of inspiration.

Let’s take a look back and forward together: How did we work in the past, what is work like today, and how do we envision the future? Join in and help shape the work of tomorrow!

The festival is part of the project Metamorphosis of Workwear, which documents the transformation of the working world. Take the opportunity to discuss past and present work life, share your own experiences, and contribute your visions for the future of work. We look forward to exchanging ideas with you!

• 6:50 p.m.: Short performance Rückwärts (Dance: Seraphine Detscher, Direction: Wiete Sommer, Concept: Ina Goetz (UNDOYARN) & Wiete Sommer)
• 7–8:30 p.m.: Panel Discussion New Work, Old Patterns? Perspectives on the Transformation of the Working World with Caroline Kügler (Holzkombinat Chemnitz), Dagmar Mechelke-Rathnayake (OTEX Textilveredlung GmbH), Wiete Sommer (Designer), and Susann Zeiner-Fink (Chair of Work Science and Innovation Management, TU Chemnitz), Moderated by Katja Großer

On both days, Suppenmaxe provides food, and the FO:RUM hosts a pop-up bar.
