Two choirs perform songs of resistance

The HEART CHOR from Annaberg-Buchholz and Septem Cantet from Klášterec nad Ohří take you on a journey through the history of songs against oppression, showing that they are international.

Songs from the labor and social movements are just as much a part of this as gospel and folk songs. The choirs research songs of resistance, explore the song and cultural heritage of European border regions, and reflect together on historical contexts.

Discover the historical power of songs to shape our present-day rules in the unique setting of the Chemnitz Museum of Industry. Experience how music can carry ideas across borders. Be inspired by captivating melodies performed by 28 singers from the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří mining region.

The project is funded by the German-Czech Future Fund and is part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. This initiative is co-financed by tax funds based on the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament, by federal funds from the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, and by funds from the City of Chemnitz.
