The "Green Vault" of Saxony's industrial history

In reference to the Green Vault in Dresden, the depot and collection of the Chemnitz Museum of Industry are also internally referred to as the "Green Vault" of Saxony's industrial history. The heart of the museum, the collection, houses countless treasures from the industrial age, including almost 500 machine tools and around 50 woodworking machines. This makes it one of the largest collections of its kind in Germany. In addition to the history of technology, the collection’s treasures cover many other areas, such as social, economic, and art history, from the beginning of the industrial age in Saxony to the present day.

The Chemnitz Museum of Industry’s specialized library offers literature on Saxony’s economic and industrial history and is open to public institutions, associations, companies, as well as private individuals.
